We haven't heard much on the "Charlie St. Cloud" front since Universal bumped up the Zac Efron film's release date to July 30, which caused CBS Films to move back their Vanessa Hudgens vehicle "Beastly" to 2011.
But Yahoo! Movies debuted the film's second full-length trailer yesterday and reminded us just why we cared to begin with.
The focus of this second trailer is less on the accident that causes the titular Charlie St. Cloud to give up all his hopes and dreams and more on what comes after. We see in this trailer more of an emphasis on his relationship with Tess (Amanda Crew), and it allows us to see a bit further in the story than the first trailer
Apparently Charlie doesn't go with Tess on her sailing trip around the world like the first trailer hinted that he might, and she ends up getting lost at sea. It seems as though this adventure — Charlie going to save her — might be the one to allow him to leave his seaside home and ghost of his brother behind to actually live his life.
We'll admit we were a little peeved when "Charlie St. Cloud" bumped "Beastly" out of the July 30 spot (and by that I mean me, because July 30 is my birthday and only the best films are allowed to be released when that day happens to line up with a Friday), but the more we see of "Charlie St. Cloud" the more we get excited for it.
This hasn't been the summer of good movies by a long shot, but "Charlie St. Cloud" looks like it could be great. Don't credit my opinion too much, though, because I was also the girl who thought "The Last Airbender" looked awesome.
